Forceful Treatment, Over Prescribing, Medically Induced Illness
- Description
- Peer I advocated with their consent was discharged without medication after we both pressed issue of over-medication and medication without a cause. The peer was made to believe he was required to take the medication that was overly sedating him. The peer was sedated and peers complained of patients' drooling. The sedation made the patient vulnerable to abuse by a specific staff person and the patient was unable to advocate for himself. After discharge I talked to the peer once and he said the hospital was a bad experience and never wanted to go to a hospital again. He was removed from medication before discharge.
